Who: Dyspnea
When: 6 pm, April 12. The Runway, Carriageworks.
Hair: Byron Turnbull for evo
Hair style: "The garments from the collection are super pink, super feminine and super over-the-top so we wanted to take away from some of the femininity by creating something quite masculine. We've toughened the look up a bit, and created a street edge. The hair we have is fashion-forward, taking inspiration from the catwalks of Paris and putting an Australian twist on it. We have gone with particular shapes, embracing the angular and glueing strands of hair to the models' faces in a way that's not been done before. It's a wet look but we wanted one that stayed wet consistently without having to spray water into it. I wanted to use something that would keep the hair wet and prevent it from going chalky, so we've used the evo Happy Campers Leave-in Moisturiser. Through the front we have a gel to keep the hair down on the face, but everything else is just moisturiser. The moisturiser itself treats the hair and adds shine to it, as well as washes out really easily so it can also be used in an everyday look. You could just take one little bit of hair and sweep it across the hairline with the gel. For something a little bit cooler, you could also separate a small section of hair above the ear and curl it around," says Byron Turnbull.
Make-up: Nicole Thompson for M.A.C
Make-up style: "The Dyspnea girl is not afraid to make a statement, so we really wanted to toughen up the look. There's a lot of burgundy that runs through the collection and rather than a burgundy lip, we've gone for a burgundy eye - it's one of the most amazing shades around the eye to bring out your eye colour. Vino lip pencil, which is a beautiful wine-colour, has been used around the eyes with Star Violet eye shadow placed right over the top to give it some sheen. The shadow is a frost with a lot of colours going through it, which gives a lot of reflection in the light. We didn't want the look to be too gothic, rather we wanted a sheen which we will finish off with some gloss over the lids. This week there has just been gloss everywhere - it it just the product of the season. On the lips, on the cheeks, and on the eyes and I am loving it. While we want to create a fantasy with any runway show, this colour is actually something that a lot of people can wear. And lip pencil can be used on the eyes just as you would any eye pencil or eye shadow - it's exactly the same technique. To adapt it to everyday, I would keep the colour really small, wrapping it around the lash line and smudging it out just as you would a smokey eye," says Nicole Thompson.
