Record votes cast in Cosmopolitan’s Women of the Year awards

Cosmopolitan Australia has received a record number of votes for this year’s Cosmopolitan Women of the Year Awards; with close to 50,000 votes being cast in categories across social media star, entrepreneur, performer, TV and radio personality, fashion designer, game changer and sport.

Cosmopolitan editor Keshnee Kemp expressed her excitement at the number of votes cast in the competition’s 11th year, believing it to be due to the lineup of finalists resonating strongly with Australian women. Further, there was a large push across Bauer Xcel Media’s combined 10 million Facebook fans to drive users to vote for their favourites.

The voting process was also pushed via Cosmopolitan Australia’s social channels, regular EDM send outs and on-site banners; while finalists urged their own large social followings to have their say.

“This year we wanted the Women of the Year nominees to be seen by more women than ever before,” said Kemp of the large social drive, “By leveraging our print and digital assets across the Bauer network and working closely with the nominees, we have received a record number of votes at over 49,000.”

Finalists included Frank Body founders Bree Johnson and Jess Hatzis; actress Nicole da Silva; singer Samantha Jade; Nadia Fairfax of Fairfax Journal; Elle Ferguson of They All Hate Us; beauty vlogger Lauren Curtis; fitness guru Ashy Bines; KIIS radio host and The Bachelorette star Sophie Monk; NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian; Mara & Mine designer Jasmine Yarbrough; and surfing world champion Tyler Wright.

The winners will be announced on Thursday 26 October.
