Exciting news hit my inbox today. Two of my great loves are coming together to form what is set to be a stunning spectacle – beauty and ballet.

Make-up artist Napoleon Perdis is sponsoring The Australian Ballet with a three-year contract that begins with Shakepeare’s Romeo & Juliet

A classic love story mixed with a cutting edge beauty brand - what could be more glamorous?!

The ballet will be performed at the Arts Centre in Melbourne in September and will be directed by choreographer Graeme Murphy.

I’m excited to be working with a company as commanding and awe-inspiring as The Australian Ballet,” says Napoleon.

Like the score or the set design, the make-up direction establishes the mood for the performance. A love story such as Romeo & Juliet calls for a soft romantic makeup look, while a performance like Madame Butterfly demands a powerful eye statement.”

My team and I look forward to working with the company and creating a range of looks for each production over the next three years.”

He’s not the only one excited about the collaboration, with The Australian Ballet artistic director David McAllister revealing, We’re thrilled that Napoleon will be creating a unique make-up collection especially for our world premiere season of Romeo & Juliet.”

A fan of the ballet since I was old enough to walk, now there’s even more excuse for me to arrange an excursion to Melbourne for a little taste of the arts.
