After more than seven years at BEAUTYDIRECTORY and beautyheaven, today marks Michelle Blancato’s last day as general manager of both sites.
Blancato started her career at ACP in custom publishing 17 years ago. Since then she has worked at BBC, IPC, and Future Publishing, just to name a few.
In 2010 Blancato joined BEAUTYDIRECTORY as online manager before moving through the ranks to become general manager of the business in January 2016.
Speaking about her departure and next move, Blancato reveals: “I am absolutely honoured to have led the business for the past two years. I clearly remember the first time I walked into the BEAUTYDIRECTORY office in Balmain, meeting Janet Hayward and Jackie Maxted, and thinking, ‘This is it. This is where I’m meant to be.’
“As the media landscape changes, our business changes and grows with it; the opportunity to innovate and create is always present. Being able to work with media and brands to find solutions, offer advice and try new things has kept me inspired, as has the responsibility of maintaining a workplace where young women can thrive and develop professionally.”
“To that point, the one standout element of this business is by far the magnificent people who work in it. This team is engaged, passionate and excited, and I am energised by them every single day.”
“But I do believe now is the time for me move onto the next stage of life and career. I’m looking forward to consulting directly with clients on their digital media strategies, creating some content, and also working on my own project. And most importantly, it’s time for me to step back, take a breath, and dedicate more of my attention to my family."
