If you haven’t turned to Google to solve your beauty conundrums, you’re definitely a rarity. The search engine is a popular tool, utilised by women the world over to learn the tricks of the trade in the beauty industry.

But have you ever wondered what your fellow females are curious to discover? Thanks to a collaboration between ELLE US and Google to analyse the top searches for women, the leading beauty questions from nations far and wide have now been revealed.


Australia
Beach-loving, laid-back Australians are devotees to low-maintenance beauty routines, with their leading question being, ‘is it bad to sleep with wet hair’.  Other top questions include ‘how to grow hair fast’ and ‘how to make hair thicker’.

France
Amidst queries for ‘Is it ok to not comb your hair’, the most commonly asked question of the notoriously stylish Gallic is ‘when does make-up expire’.

Brazil
Brazil is known for loving plastic surgery, currently leading the world in terms of the number of procedures undertaken per year. It’s no surprise, then, that one of the country’s major concerns is ‘how much can skin shrink’. Despite this, the country’s top question remains ‘how often to shampoo hair’.

South Korea
Koreans are renowned for their skin concerns (and innovative products). Their leading question - ‘is foundation bad for acne’ - remains complexion focused.

India
With a lengthy history interwoven with yoga and Ayurvedic teachings, Indians believe diet plays an important part in looks. The nation’s leading search is thus, ‘which vitamins are good for hair or skin’, with other top concerns relating to achieving perfect hair and skin.

Nigeria
The African nation’s women were found to favour searches for DIY-heavy recipes and suggestions for beauty, mainly revolving around follicles. The country’s leading search is ‘how can I make hair feel soft’.

United Arab Emirates
UAE women are famously glamorous, with their top searches based around straight locks, including Chinese hair rebonding and hair botox. The essentials for perfectly made-up faces are also on their minds, with ‘what are make-up basics every girl should have’ being the top search.
