It’s easy to let our beauty regimes fall by the wayside when it’s cold and we’re all covered up - but there’s nothing like some winter pampering. We asked some of NZ’s top beauty experts about how their routines change when the temperature drops.
“My favourite winter beauty ritual is to retreat into a warm shower with a tub of intoxicatingly scented, oil-rich body scrub. I scoop handfuls out and smooth it on all the way up from my feet to my neck. Heaven!” - Tracy Davis, NZ Woman’s Weekly
“Let’s face it: your feet are always the last priority in your day-to-day beauty routines. So in winter, I like to do a full blown at-home pedicure – scrub, moisturiser, nail polish – so even though they’re shoved into boots for the next four months, they still look good out of them.” - Danielle Lagos, CLEO
“I can’t abide dry, scaly limbs, so I do a full body exfoliating session once a week, and apply a gradual tanning moisturiser every few days to maintain a hint of glow. I’m also partial to a good dusting of highlighting powder to brighten my make-up on cold and dreary days.” - Amy Houlihan, NZ Woman’s Day
“Winter for me means upping the moisture content – for my hair, skin and body. I add a richer moisturiser to my skincare regime as well as using a facial spritz as much as I can during the day. For my body, I religiously apply body oil daily after my shower, and step up my use of cuticle oil as my hands get really affected by the cold. I also amp up my omega-3 intake to address moisture loss from the inside and keep my eczema-prone skin calm.” - Helene Ravlich, Pretty Beautiful
