Dove has launched Real Beauty Productions after a study found that 69 per cent of women don’t feel represented on screen. The company enlisted American TV producer and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes to produce the first film, specifically because of her experience portraying women on-screen in popular series likes Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.
The goal of the new in-house production company is to turn real Dove consumers’ stories into compelling videos, starting with “Meet Cathleen”, a short film about Cathleen Meredith, founder of body-positive initiative Fat Girls Dance.
Each story is sourced from both Dove and Rhimes’ social media accounts, and will continue to be promoted as part of Dove’s body-positivity brand mission. To find out more about Dove’s #RealBeauty productions, visit here.
