Having being in the publishing business since 2009, Buro 24/7 Australia producer Anna McClelland is shifting her focus towards the freelance world. BEAUTYDIRECTORY has a quick chat to McClelland about going freelance and leaving the Buro family this week.
What are your plans post-Buro 24/7?
I’m off to try my hand at something I’ve dreamt of for years now – a freelance writing career. I’ll be writing across the pillars of beauty, fashion, health and fitness, travel, culture and bridal; so really, anything and everything in the women’s lifestyle space. I’m also available for editing, content marketing and social media strategy projects.
Are you sad to be leaving the Buro 24/7 family?
Very! It’s been an action-packed 18 months working on Buro since the beginning, and seeing it generate more and more buzz in the Australian market has been so rewarding. I’ve learnt so much about digital publishing during my time here, not to mention more about Kim and Kanye than anyone should have to know! And while I thought my fashion knowledge was pretty solid when I started, working under Rebecca Caratti has taught me so much more.
What was the highlight of your time there?
I’ve had so many pinch-me moments, from interviewing new Hugo Boss faces Theo James and Anna Ewers in New York, to living it up in Las Vegas for a week. But what I’ll miss most is the fun to be had day-to-day in the Buro office, where the discussion ranges from all things The Bachelor (the team will probably kill me for admitting that!) to trialling obscure Korean beauty trends. That, and all the doughnuts.
