Are Media has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, who is set to replace current CEO, Brendon Hill.
Jane Huxley will be starting her new role at Are Media on Monday, April 26. Huxley is a highly experienced executive with a background in digital and technology businesses. Most recently, she was the regional managing director for Spotify, covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to that, she spent fifteen years at Microsoft, five years with Fairfax Digital Media and a further five years building Pandora Internet Radio in Australia and New Zealand.
Hill joined the Australian business in 2006 and was transferred to New Zealand in 2015, where he was promoted to New Zealand managing director in 2017. In May 2019, he moved back to Australia and was appointed CEO of the Group.
In an email sent yesterday afternoon, the Are Media Board told staff: “Brendon has done an excellent job at Are Media, especially the integration of the Pacific Media business, managing the business through COVID-19, and in crafting a new vision, values and strategy for 2021. The business is very profitable and is delivering excellent results, and we are in a strong position to perform even better over the coming years.”
Further to this, the Board said it is eager to sustain the excellent combined publishing platform that has been established under Hill’s leadership and to accelerate the growth of the digital business.
“The key pillars of the business in women’s entertainment and lifestyle, food, homes, motor and industry, all have significant opportunities to grow and develop their traditional media and digital audience reach.”
Both Hill and the Board agree that the time is right for a new leader to take the business forward, saying that everyone is delighted to have attracted a leader of Huxley’s calibre to lead the business.
