After departing from InStyle in June, Sarah Brooks-Wilson is excited to announce that she is once more stepping into the beauty director shoes with a new gig at CLEO and DOLLY.
Brooks-Wilson will be heading up the beauty team consisting of beauty editor Gyan Yankovich and beauty writer Bree Grant. She will continue to run SBW Media on Monday and Tuesdays, working at CLEO and DOLLY three days a week - Wednesday to Friday.
To find out more about the new role, we tracked Brooks-Wilson down for a chat.
Why did you decide to take the role of beauty director at CLEO/DOLLY?
I wanted a new challenge. I haven't worked in the younger market for a while and after InStyle, I wanted a change of pace - I'm sure I’m going to get it with the 18-25 year olds!
What excites you about the role?
The challenge of working on a younger market and bringing new ideas to both magazines. I want CLEO and DOLLY to have the best beauty pages in this market.
Are you looking forward to getting back to magazines?
I never really left them. I was just working with them on a freelance basis under SBW Media, but I'm really enjoying being part of a team again.
Will you still be running SBW Media?
Yes I will still be running SBW Media on Mondays and Tuesdays, so it’s business as usual on that front.
How will you juggle the two?
Lots of work after hours, I expect! My business is still important to me, so I want to keep it going.
What are some of the big projects you will be working on?
Ah, that would be telling. There are lots of exciting things coming up with both magazines next year. We want to make the beauty pages of both magazines really stand out in the market with special projects to bring in new readers.
