Though us Aussies are still waiting for Glossier to hit our shores, Emily Weiss’ cult beauty brand and retailer is expanding in the US.
The millennial-loving company has announced it plans to open a flagship store at 123 Lafayette Street, New York on November 8, which is the same address the company was founded at in 2014.
A two-story retail space designed by Gachot Studios, Glossier Flagship is a community space that Glossier describes as “both a physical and sensorial embodiment.” In addition to testing and shopping for products, customers have the option to interact with Glossier’s offline editors and take part in experiential activities, such as the Boy Brow Room.
In just a few short years, Glossier has made a huge name for itself in the beauty world, with Weiss calling the brand “emotional commerce” – the idea that retail is all about art and discovery. It has also expanded into four countries and has raised over US$86 million in funding.
While the flagship does not indicate any future permanent stores, Glossier is planning to continue experimenting with temporary retail in 2019.
