Following a successful 2016, Gritty Pretty is continuing to expand its team with the appointment of a new digital sales and partnership manager. Lauren Deighton, who previously worked at News Corp and OMD Sydney, is the latest recruit to join the company. BD chatted to Deighton to find out what’s in store for her at the beauty startup.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background?
After studying a B.Journalism, I spent a few years in recruitment, working predominantly with sales and marketing professionals. I then decided to try my luck in the world of advertising. I took a job as a planner at OMD Sydney working across the J&J account, Village Roadshow and Nickelodeon. At the same time I decided to undertake my Masters in Marketing. I then moved into a role as client manager at a small creative agency in Sydney, before I was approached by News Corp for an agency sales account management position. I also started my own lifestyle blog on the side. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at News and got to work on some fantastic campaigns, but had a real passion for the beauty industry, so when Eleanor contacted me about this position I knew I had to meet with her to discuss it! I've been a big fan of Gritty Pretty for a long time!
What will your new role entail?
I will be responsible for driving Gritty Pretty's commercial offering, working closely with Eleanor and with advertisers to put together campaign strategies and responses and to launch new, exciting opportunities to market.
What attracted you to the position?
I love the fact that Gritty Pretty, although already doing so well, is still in the startup phase. Eleanor is so collaborative and open to ideas. Advertising sales is what I love to do. The fact that I can now do that within the beauty space, working with some of my favourite brands makes it even better!
What are you most looking forward to?
I am so excited to be a part of [a] company that is going from strength to strength and to be included in that growth story. Gritty Pretty's success over the past two years, including the launch of the amazing digital magazine proves how much consumers adore the brand. Eleanor is a creative and inspiring leader and I cannot wait to work with her on some amazing campaigns and across the exciting new offerings Gritty Pretty will be launching early next year!
