L’Oréal UK managing director Vismay Sharma has forecast the need for and emergence of male beauty counters within the next five years.
Speaking with the UK’s Daily Telegraph, Sharma claimed that retail innovation will take into account that beauty is no longer a taboo topic for male consumers, and that although “today you have a very small proportion of men who want to use makeup products… that proportion is growing and it will continue to grow.
“I think it’s just awareness — two things are happening, men know they can use make-up, and they know what it does when you use it.”
Sharma’s claims are well-founded, considering that the male grooming industry is now worth a staggering $US50 billion.
