New editor for Mamamia

It’s been a big year of launches and movements for the Mamamia Women’s Network, with the latest seeing News Corp Editorial Network’s head of digital Kate de Brito appointed the new editor at Mamamia, effective October 5.

The journalist replaces Renee Mundy, who became editor last September after former iVillage editor Holly Wainwright stepped back from the role due to the demands of having a young family, according to Mumbrella. Mundy departed the Mamamia Women’s Network in recent months, while Wainwright is still with the company as a senior editor.

“Kate is a perfect fit for Mamamia. She has serious news and opinion credentials – the things that are the foundation of Mamamia. We’re growing the business, and having someone with Kate’s flair and experience will position us brilliantly for the future,” says Mamamia Women’s Network editorial director Mia Freedman.

de Brito adds: “Mamamia has such a strong voice and understanding of what women are talking about every day. It really gets women – and digital – in a way a lot of media companies don’t, and I’m looking forward to building on those strengths. We will continue setting the agenda when it comes to women’s issues and to offering readers depth – and heart – in their news.”

Currently on maternity leave, Jamila Rizvi will resume the editor-in-chief duties across the network on her return.
