It’s an essential tool for designers and colourists working in fashion, beauty, home and interiors, and now, Pantone is updating its colour system - adding 210 more shades to its palettes.
The latest additions mean Pantone boasts 2,310 shades in its colour system, which was last updated almost three years ago. Colour extensions were applied to the orange, pink, and blue families.
“The extension of our range, what we tried to do, is to make certain we incorporate for the people who use our system the direction [regarding the] needs in color based on what consumers tell us,” Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman tells WWD.
“The difference this time from last time is the idea of healthy colours. It speaks to food and how you cook, what you are using, as well as more of the exotica, such as colours that people are understanding better now, like the orange family. Looking healthy is very important in today’s society. More colours now convey that, and in fashion, people are surrounding themselves in the colour.”
