Iconic Australian beauty retailer, Mecca, is set to open shop in the historic Gowings building in Sydney’s CBD, and we can tell you it's not going to be your average beauty store.
The three-level, 1200 square metre store will be the largest beauty retail outlet in the southern hemisphere, according to Mecca, and will be considered the brand’s flagship.
To put that size into perspective, the opening will be double the size of its next biggest store, in Highpoint Shopping Centre, Melbourne. Not only will it stock cult brands that we know and love from Mecca, but 30 per cent of its space, aka a full level, will be devoted to beauty experiences, brand immersions, pop-ups, and brand and product launches.
Sydney design studio, Meacham Nockles, which has a longstanding partnership with the beauty chain, has been appointed to the project as architect, and will be set with the task of maintaining the heritage features of the 1929 building, according to reports by Broadsheet.
The new Mecca store will open in the second half of 2020.
