Austin Butler is stepping into a new role, but this time, he’s playing himself. The Oscar-nominated actor is the new face of YSL Beauty’s MYSLF men’s fragrance.
In a statement, Stephan Bezy, International General Manager, shared why Butler was chosen for the campaign: "Both as an artist and as a human being, he embodies the values expressed by our brand through MYSLF, a modern representation of what it means to be a man. Embracing his many facets. Owning up to his individuality, generously, unapologetically."
The Elvis actor has previously been spotted on the red carpet wearing Saint Laurent clothing, so this partnership was a match made in heaven.
“I was honoured to be asked to join the YSL Beauty family,” Butler said in a statement. “Over the last few years, I’ve spoken with people who knew Mr. Saint Laurent. He broke through labels. He was a rebel, and I love that about him. I feel privileged to be a part of the heritage he set in motion."
The video campaign is set to be released on August 22 and was filmed by Palme d'Or-winning French director, Julia Ducournau. The print version was shot by New York-based photographer Gray Sorrenti and sees the Dune star working the camera in an all black ensemble.
