bdBLOG: Spending $11,000 on a make-up artist

Have you ever thought what $11,000 can get you? A car, a three-week trip around Europe, a designer bag… or for Kim Kardashian, a make-up artist for one month.

Closer magazine recently reported that the reality TV star’s make-up artist comes to her home or hotel each morning, and sometimes twice a day, to get her face done. Kardashian allegedly sits for 90 minutes each morning to have her make-up applied, or an even longer period of time if she has an event.

Seriously, even if someone gave me a heap of new products, it would be a real challenge for me to sit for an hour and a half and still have things to do. To create a fully made up look I manage to apply primer, concealer, foundation, powder, blush, mascara, eyeliner, shadow and lipstick in 30 minutes. My cost per day would probably round off to $6. Thanks to her make-up artist, Kim is $366.

If I did pay over $300 on getting my make-up done, I’m sure I would look 10 times better than I do now – but everyday? What happened to make-up free weekends and letting your skin breathe?

No matter how much money I had, I don’t think I would be spending it the same way Miss K does. I’m more than happy to spend money on products I love, but I think I would prefer to pay to learn how to do it myself before following the reality star’s route.

I guess it shows that people will do a lot - or in KK’s situation, pay a lot - to look their best at all costs. If you had the cash, would pay for a make-up artist to do your make-up every day?
