As a model Brooke Hogan may be particularly photogenic, but it’s more than good looks that has amassed the Aussie a social media following of 501,000. The former ANTM contestant recently revealed to Pedestrian TV her recipe for Instagram success and thoughts on the app’s influence on her chosen industry:
Embrace the exposure
Hogan believes Instagram has changed the modelling industry for the better, providing an outlet for models (and brands) to acquire exposure free of charge. “Instagram has definitely changed the industry in my opinion. A lot of clients book models based on social followings if they are trying to get their brand out there.” She continues: “I have 100 per cent received more bookings based on my social followers. It is pretty much free marketing to hundreds and thousands of people all around the world and is so beneficial for both the brand and the model.”
#fitspo always works
Fitspo shots are not only popular, but are more likely to have you reposted on other accounts. “I had around 17,000 followers before ANTM. I would put up workout and exercise pics and they would get reposted on fitness inspo accounts that had about 200k followers. My followers from then on just grew from being featured on accounts with large followings,” says Hogan.
Bikini shots can’t hurt
For Hogan, a bikini shot typically accrues 10,000 likes on average per photo. She comments: “Selfies and bod shots are always a winner. Everyone likes to see a bit of skin and also to see an up close pic of what you look like.”
Stand out - but for the right reasons
Don’t be dull, encourages Hogan, but also aim to be authentic. “Be interesting and different, but make sure you be yourself. Do fun, exciting things that make people want to follow your life.”
