In case you missed it, talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres recently unveiled her new skincare brand – one that focuses on age positivity and is also “kind to animals, kind to skin, kind to the planet and kind to your wallet.”
Called Kind Science, the brand launched this week and was three years in the making. It consists of seven products, including a cleanser, firming serum, eye cream, micro exfoliant, neck treatment, hydration cream and radiance oil.
Formulated with ingredients designed to be gentle on the skin, the cleanser is made with kakadu plum, chamomile and boswellia serrata, while the micro exfoliant is formulated with a fruit acid blend, volcanic sand and bamboo silk. The serum also contains plant-based ingredients for collagen growth and is said to deliver the same benefits as retinol, without the irritating side effects.
Kind Science comes as ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ is set to end its 19-season run. DeGeneres has also come under fire in recent times, with accusations of workplace harassment and misconduct from multiple staff members. She has since addressed the allegations and apologised.
“The concept for Kind Science came about as I had struggled for years to find skincare products that didn’t irritate my increasingly sensitive skin,” DeGeneres said in a statement. “I’ve tried pretty much everything out there and finally decided to launch my own line, not wanting to compromise the things that matter most to me – caring for yourself, animals and the planet.
Kind Science isn’t about anti-ageing because ageing is a good thing, it shows you’ve lived a lot, learned a lot and hopefully laughed a lot. I want to keep laughing, just with fewer laugh lines and wrinkles.”
DeGeneres teamed up with beauty industry veteran, Victoria Jackson, to create the line. Jackson has worked in the industry for over 40 years and is also the founder of her namesake brand, Victoria Jackson Cosmetics.
Kind Science is available here and prices range from US$22 to US$48.
