It seems Hollywood A-lister, Scarlett Johansson, is set to be the next mega-star to launch a beauty brand.
According to an article by WWD, Johansson, who is currently starring in the hit flick, Black Widow, will be partnering with The Najafi Companies – a private investment firm that has a solid history in celebrity beauty funding, having previously worked with Kendall Jenner’s Moon Oral Care, Pattern by Tracee Ellis Ross and Florence by Mills.
The goal is to bring a skincare brand to market in 2022, but not much else is known about the new venture, including what it will be named, where it will be available, or even what products will be included in the collection.
Despite this, Johannson spoke out about the exciting news in an interview with Allure, revealing that she created the brand to “elevate clean, essential skin care, adding: "This will be a brand for everyone who wants their skin to look its best with minimal effort."
Also speaking to WWD, the star said she has been fascinated by the transformative power of beauty since she was a child.
"My mother instilled in me a passion for self-care from my early teenage years,” she said. “Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me. The result is a clean, accessible approach to beauty."
Johannson will take on the duty of founder and chairman of the new company, while cosmetics industry veteran (and Johansson’s business partner) Kate Foster will be co-founder and CEO.
