When it comes to Australian fashion, there are four big events that dominate the calendar – the David Jones and Myer autumn/winter shows and the David Jones and Myer spring/summer shows.
This year saw leading make-up artist return to his role of make-up director for the David Jones autumn/winter 2013 fashion launch.
The show saw two main beauty looks take centre stage with a focus on smouldering, tonal shades on the eyes and softly contoured cheeks with fresh and clean skin and neutral lips.
For Autumn/Winter I wanted to return to a richer, deeper colour palette. I love collaborating with stylist Kelvin Harries and he was very much inspired by the richness of both colour and texture throughout the various designer collections,” says Perdis.
I’ve created two modern yet wearable eye statements: a one-dimensional metallic in shades of grey and a deep emerald, and a tonal neutral with punch. The one commonality is in the depth of the fusing and blending for each eye look. I’m calling it ‘The 2013 smoky eye’! It’s not about precision but more about sheer washes of colour across the whole lid to create an intensity and moody intrigue. It’s a little bit broody, definitely sexy and perfect for the new season ahead.”
As the star of the show, brand ambassador Miranda Kerr was given a slightly different beauty look to the other models.
Perdis reveals: This is the fourth David Jones launch I've done with Miranda and our connection is the strongest it's ever been. It's really gratifying as a makeup artist to know that she has absolute faith and trust in my work - and she was willing to take her look a little further than perhaps she would normally. We went stronger on the eye this season, and since her hair was pulled back, it really made her features stand out. Everything works on Miranda's face!”
