North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, has landed her first solo cover for the February issue of WWD's Beauty Inc.
Pictured against a kaleidoscopic backdrop, dressed in iridescent Doc Martens, a coral coat dress and bright pink eyeliner, the images represent the five-year-old's, "distinct fashion sense" that "belies her age", according to the magazine's editor Alexa Tietjen.
While the trade magazine doesn't interview West or either of her parents, it identifies her as a future beauty influencer and part of a new generation that is, "highly connected, engaged with fashion and beauty and individualistic in style." The publication calls this generation Alpha, signifying a new beginning.
The article also points to Luna Stephens, daughter of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, as well as Eva Chen’s daughter Ren Bannister as leaders in the Alpha age group, that is described as having an inherent understanding of technology from a young age.
"Already, the way that kids interact with technology today is significantly different from Millennials, many of whom are old enough to remember a time when going online was an activity in and of itself — one that may even have included dialing up. Gen Z and Alphas, though, have been plugged in since birth. They’re the first people whose lives are fully integrated with tech. They are fluent in the Internet," the article reads.
North West is no stranger when it comes to being in front of the camera. She has already appeared in the pages of Vogue as well as on the cover of Interview and Harper's BAZAAR. Most recently she appeared in a Fendi campaign along with the rest of the Kardashian-West clan.
