Sarah Wilson walks for Aveda

has named media personality Sarah Wilson as the face of their ”Walk for Water” initiative in Australia, which takes place on April 17 as part of their annual Earth Month campaign.

In it's 12th year, Earth Month takes place during the month of April and is a worldwide initiative with more than 30 countries aiming to raise $US4 million. Walk for Water” will see the company’s representatives, employees and customer’s come together in a series of walks hosted around the world.

Funds raised overseas will go towards the awareness and protection of clean water – a basic right that millions struggle to get access to every day. Meanwhile, the brand is extending their fundraising efforts in Australia to include the Premier’s Disaster Relief appeal, which aims to assist the many communities which have been devastated by the recent natural disasters in Queensland.

Witnessing the devastating impact of the floods and the cyclone in Queensland - and the way human nature rallied to help 'neighbours' - had a profound impact on me, and most Australians,” says Sarah. It instilled in me an incredible respect for the tens of thousands of families who lost their homes - and in too many cases - family and friends, and a desire to connect and help.”

The retail alternative to doing the Walk for Water” is Aveda’s 2011 Light the Way soy wax candle, featuring a stress-relieving aroma with certified organic French lavender. It will be sold exclusively during Earth Month and entire proceeds go to Water Aid.
