Thelma and Louise star Susan Sarandon is renowned for being outspoken when it comes to the subjects of ageing and female empowerment - it’s a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by L'Oréal Paris who recently welcomed Sarandon into the family.
The 69-year-old has been announced as the latest beauty ambassador of the cosmetics giant. She will also be the international spokesperson for the brand’s Age Perfect line, which will feature a #nofilter approach to the campaign. Sarandon says of the news: “When L’Oréal Paris and [Brand Global President Cyril Chapuy] first approached me, I was so flattered. The brand has always been a leader in helping in the empowerment and development of women.”
She continues: "The very first time I heard ‘because I’m worth it,' it definitely was a shift in the framing of why you should look good. It had to do with women becoming the master of their own lives and decisions. It’s an extremely powerful statement that has transcended time.”
As is typical of today’s social media age, the news was confirmed on Instagram. L’Oréal Paris captioned a trio of unfiltered black and white images of Sarandon with: “A true woman of worth, a real talent and an activist. More than proud to have @susansarandon join our lorealista family #worthit.”
