Look Good Feel Better has launched Feel Better Month this September, encouraging all Australians to acknowledge the importance of self-confidence and a positive mindset in support of the thousands of cancer patients who will benefit from the program in the coming year.
Now in its seventh year, Feel Better Month offers Australians undergoing cancer treatment the opportunity to further benefit from the confidence-boosting Look Good Feel Better program. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the program, ensuring workshops and Confidence Kits can continue to be offered free-of-charge to all Australians undergoing treatment for any type of cancer.
"A lot has changed over the last few years, but the number of patients being diagnosed with cancer and turning to us for support has not," said Look Good Feel Better general manager, Carol Kavurma.
"We’re proud to have expanded our service-offering in response to the extra challenges cancer patients have been facing, launching virtual workshops and seeing a phenomenal 900% increase in home-delivered Confidence Kit requests. But we’re always looking to do more to help and for that, we rely on the support of our community."
This September, a number of partners will run fundraising campaigns in support of the Look Good Feel Better program. Spread the word and encourage support of the below offers:
• David Jones - $1 from every lipstick and lip gloss sold in-store and online throughout September 2022 will be donated to Look Good Feel Better.
• Myer - $1 from every lipstick and lip gloss sold in-store and online between 4th – 17th September 2022 will be donated to Look Good Feel Better.
• Biologique Recherche: 10% from all orders of Lotion P50 in September will be donated to Look Good Feel Better.
• Biologique Recherche: 10% from every Wellness for Cancer treatment booked during September to be donated to Look Good Feel Better (facial and body treatments specifically adapted to the needs of cancer patients, and those in remission. The most suitable products are selected following a rigorous protocol co-developed with Wellness for Cancer.)
• T Galleria by DFS - For those in Sydney, 2% of all beauty sales until the end of September will be donated to the Look Good Feel Better program.
The Lipstick Effect: join the social media call-to-action
The Lipstick Effect was identified by researchers from Harvard Medical School and the University of Chieti, Italy as a common psychological phenomenon that boosts the confidence of a woman when she wears makeup and feels physically more attractive. It helps women have feelings of increased self-esteem, stronger personality, and attitude.
This September, embrace The Lipstick Effect on social media with a post spreading awareness of the Look Good Feel Better program, and its ability to boost the confidence of those undergoing treatment for cancer. Take a selfie wearing your favourite lipstick or lip gloss, tag a friend or family member who helps you ‘Feel Better’ and more confident, and share using @lgfbaustralia and #FeelBetterMonth2022.
For added support, select a lipstick available from David Jones or Myer and mention their $1 donation for every lipstick or lip gloss sold during Feel Better Month.
Get creative
Supporters can get creative and come up with their own fundraising activity any time throughout the month. Remember, raising just $100 will ensure access to a Confidence Kit and a virtual workshop for one Australian undergoing treatment for cancer, and $1,000 will fund an entire face-to-face workshop.
Helping cancer patients ‘Feel Better’ from the comfort of home
In addition to face-to-face workshops and regular women’s, men’s and teens virtual workshops on skincare, cosmetics and headwear, a range of free virtual workshops focusing on overall health and wellness will be running throughout Feel Better Month. Experts in their fields will be hosting the sessions, covering topics such as meditation, art therapy, healthy cooking (with celebrity chef 'Fast Ed'), exercise, yoga and lymphatic massage.
Quick and easy tutorials will be also offered on Facebook Live throughout the month, focusing on some of the most commonly requested topics relating to the side effects of cancer treatment. Special guests – including beauty expert, Eleanor Pendleton will discuss changes to the skin, skincare, nail care, scarf styling, makeup selection, product hygiene and a range of other topics.
"The Look Good Feel Better program is about more than just makeup – it’s about offering cancer patients of all ages, genders, and cancer types the opportunity to learn practical strategies to manage the physical, psychological and social impacts of cancer treatment," said Kavurma.
"Feel Better Month 2022 will help us deliver on our promise to help Australians face their cancer diagnosis with confidence, and we’re grateful for the support of our partners and the community, and the important part they play."
