Last month we taught you all about Instagram’s October updates – from polling stickers to Kirakira+. Now, as we reach the end of November, the social media giant has unveiled another slew of features for its 500 million (plus) daily active users.
Here are all the new features for you to know to help take you, or your business’s, Instagramming to the next level.
Add older content to stories
Instead of only being able to add photos and videos from the past 24 hours to your Instagram story, the social giant now allows you to take older content and add it to your story. This will inevitably be a godsend for social media managers (and all users alike) as the feature makes it easier to plan and prepare images and videos much further in advance for simple posting later on.
Stop-motion and superzoom
Another two features/filters have been added to Instagram’s in-app story feature: Superzoom and stop-motion. Superzoom allows users to dramatically zoom in on something (featuring equally as dramatic music); and stop-motion allows you to take a series of photos (but not edit them), and then assemble them into a video.
Split-screen Instagram Live
You can now invite viewers to share your Instagram story by tapping on the overlapping smiley faces in the bottom right corner of your live interface after you have started a broadcast.
A screen will pop up showing you a list of viewers, and you may then invite one to join you in your broadcast. You will also be able to see if anyone requests to be in your live video.
Expansion of the new sponsored post format
More influencers have been given the new sponsored post format – a branded content tool that encourages influencers to identify posts that have been paid for. Instagram will also be notifying influencers to use the format if they detect that a post may be sponsored.
View saved posts on desktop
Instagram appears to be moving to make itself more desktop friendly, with stories and users' saved posts now appearing in its desktop format.
