Burt’s Bees has teamed up with Google to give a 360-degree view of the cabin that cofounder Burt Shavitz once lived in.
The turkey coop-turned-cabin that the eccentric Shavitz once lived in was transported to the company’s headquarters in North Carolina following his death in 2015; and now, thanks to VR, consumers are able to experience a fully immersive digital tour of the home.
Burt’s Bees general manager Jim Geikie is aware that there is a lot of fascination surrounding his life, saying “Part of the mystique of this brand is Burt and what he was like — people will ask, ‘Is he a real person?’
“He was a pretty complex man who lived a simple life that was closely connected to nature. The cabin he lived in illustrates the choices he made and the principles and values by which he lived his life.”
