If you didn't post a picture of yourself at Coachella on Instagram, did you even really go? According to influencer and YouTube star, Gabbie Hanna, there's more to that question than meets the eye.
With the aim of proving that you can't believe everything you see on social media, Hanna pulled off a very elaborate prank and faked an entire trip to the famous music festival; while documenting the whole process for her latest vlog.
By combining colourful outfits, wigs and makeup looks with some seriously savvy photoshop skills, Hanna managed to mimic a weekend at Coachella with unquestionable ease. She turned beach and garden backgrounds into a Palm Springs oasis, filled with fellow festival-goers. And with Instagram's handy geo-tagging feature, the results looked anything but artificial.
Hanna isn't the first influencer to pull off a spoof like this (last year a blogger from the UK faked a trip to Disneyland to make a similar point) but she wanted to raise concerns about how easy it is to portray a seemingly perfect life on social media.
"Just don't base your life off of the few posts a week from your favourite influencer living this glamorous, amazing, colourful, saturated, hip, trendy, amazing life," Hanna says. "Because the whole time I was living my best life at Coachella, I was really, uh, for the most part, sitting in this editing chair."
Hanna has attracted global attention with her Coachella vlog which currently has over 3 million views. Watch it here.
