The new app that’s like Tinder for mums

Peanut, an app that’s been described as Tinder for mothers, has finally launched in Australia.

Further heralded as ‘The Mother of all Social Networks’ by Apple, Peanut uses a smart algorithm to to personalise the experience for each user and match mums through things they genuinely have in common; such as interests, mutual friends, languages, the age and gender of their children, and educational background amongst other things.

Designed to allow women to swipe their way into meaningful friendships, the free  iOS and android app was founded by British tech guru Michelle Kennedy.

Speaking on Peanut’s launch into Australia, Kennedy said: "We've received so many inbound requests from women in Australia who want to use Peanut. They want to connect and have conversations with like-minded women. To seek advice and support, isn't that what every woman wants? We're so excited to be in Australia, a country bursting with forward thinking, funny, brilliant women, a perfect complement to the women already using Peanut.”

80 per cent of women using the app are between the ages of 25-34. Additional features designed to make the experience as seamless as possible include, group chats, the ability to suggest and poll meet-up times, post and comment on photos, send invites and add them straight into users’ calendars.

Kennedy originally gained recognition in the tech industry by successfully transforming dating platform Badoo; and was integral to launching Bumble. It was her personal experience as a mother, and her success in social networks, that inspired her to create a modern solution for women to connect and make motherhood a little less lonely.
