Instagram has today announced an exciting new feature designed specifically for creators.
Users can now pin up to three posts (including photos or Reels) to the top of grid profile pages. According to Instagram, this will provide creators with more flexibility to express themselves.
“Your profile is your space, so we’re looking for more ways to give you control over that experience,” said Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, in a video posted to his Instagram page.
To pin a post, you simply just navigate to a specific photo or Reel and click on the three dots in the top right corner. From there, you can select ‘pin to your profile,’ which will ensure the post appears at the top of your profile grid.
The ability to pin posts has been highly-requested by those wanting to highlight their favourite posts which may have been buried amongst other posts over the years. It could also be helpful for creators and influencers who post frequently.
Users can currently pin Stories to their profile, but the new feature expands this option to posts. Although you could previously highlight posts in Stories, and then pin that story to your profile, the new feature is more straightforward and easier to navigate. Notably, this feature is similar to TikTok and Twitter’s Pinned features.
Instagram also recently introduced three other features designed specifically for creators. Firstly, Reels have been extended from 60 seconds to 90 seconds. The company has also introduced the option to input your own audio from anything in your gallery to use for Reels. Several more creative tools have also been added, including stickers to use in Reels, so that they can be as “interactive and fun as Stories are.”
