Having started her YouTube channel in March 2012, Australian video blogger Chloe Morello is gaining subscribers literally by the second. Morello is already at 190,000 subscribers and 13.5 million video views, and counting. For Junina Mendoza, the blogging journey began with YouTube, before she ventured into traditional-style blogging. Mendoza’s channel Heyyyjune began in November 2010 as a creative outlet for June while she studied medicine. Two and a half years later, the channel has received more than eight million video views. My channel features a wide range of videos including make-up tutorials, reviews, product recommendations, hair tutorials, styling tips and fashion lookbooks as well as some personal Q&A,” Mendoza says.

In March 2012, Heyyyjune’s sister blog (http://heyyyjune.blogspot.com.au) was conceived as a way to provide high-quality images of any products mentioned in the videos. Since then, the blog has become an entity on its own, featuring reviews, swatches and more.

Karissa Pukas’ YouTube channel began in her birthplace of British Columbia in October 2010, while she studied a diploma of fashion merchandising. Over the next year, between graduating and moving to Australia, Pukas continued to build up her skills to get her channel noticed. She’s since signed with LA-based media network Maker Studios and has built up a following of more than 185,000 subscribers. Pukas is now based in Gosford on the NSW central coast, where she continues to post videos three times a week. Saturday Nights Alrite is now one of the top three most-subscribed Australian beauty channels.

With an established career as a make-up artist, Rachael Brook’s foray into blogging began in 2012 when she realised blogging could be the perfect compliment to her work. Rachaelbrook.com features make-up and hair tutorials, the latest trends and a guide to how you can achieve them, as well as beautiful, inspiring photographs.

Looking ahead, Rachael says she’s love for her site to be saved as a favourite” in young women’s web browsers. I’d like [the site] to be their go-to guide for everything beauty,” Brook says. If they are wondering how to use false eyelashes, or trying to figure out their perfect foundation colour, I want them to know they can click on my blog and have the answers they’ve been looking for.”

What started as a weekend project has led to a career path for make-up artist-turned-beauty-vlogger Amy Stuart. Having already built up a fan base of more than 18,000 subscribers, Stuart has built a portfolio of beauty, hair and styling videos. She’s also carved herself a niche tone, with her passion for cruelty-free beauty meaning Stuart only features and promotes products from brands that do not test on animals.

Most recently, Stuart featured in CLEO magazine and was noticed by Face of Australia, who asked Stuart to work in the brand’s make-up team for the Miss Universe Australia Pageant 2012 National Costume event.

Touching base with some old friends…

While we’re talking bloggers, a number of well-established Aussie beauty bloggers continue to go from strength to strength. From eBooks to brand partnerships, these bloggers don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Since she started Hair Romance in 2010, Christina Butcher’s success has seen her launch sister blog Nail Romance and launch two eBooks, with a hard copy book to be released later this year. Now part of The Remarkables Group, Christina has also worked alongside brands including ghd, Schwarzkopf and Paul Mitchell.

The winner of beautydirectory’s Star Beauty Blog Award in 2012, Beauty Swatch’s Yishan Chan published her first eBook, Perfect Pout late last year. This month, Chan will be appearing in Mecca Maxima’s Melbourne stores, promoting Clinique’s newly launch lipstick shades as part of the brand’s Find your perfect lipstick” campaign.

One of Australia’s most experience bloggers, Kimberly Nissen is currently redeveloping The Plastic Diaries site, hopefully in time for the blog’s third birthday at the end of May. Amid the redesign, Nissen is celebrating the launch of her first eBook, .

Fox In Flats has become home to the popular Style Dare series, which encourages women to step out of their style comfort zones to try something new. Run monthly, Fox In Flats editor Andrea Zanetich says that when the blog runs lipstick-based challenges in particular, brands experience a huge influx of interest in the product used.
