TikTok is out to rival Instagram, with the announcement of its new app, TikTok Notes.
Currently only available in Australia and Canada, the all-new app is just for sharing photos with text.
The app can be used by both iOS and Android users, and you can login using your existing TikTok account – similar to Meta's strategy with Instagram and Threads.
"We're in the early stages of experimenting with a dedicated space for photo and text content with TikTok Notes," the company wrote in an update on X.
"We hope that the TikTok community will use TikTok Notes to continue sharing their moments through photo posts."
"Whether documenting adventures, expressing creativity, or simply sharing snapshots of one's day, the TikTok Notes experience is designed for those who would like to share and engage through photo content."
Though there are some features that differentiate the app from its Meta rival (the main being a 'grid' or 'feed' format that unlike Instagram, lets you view multiple posts at a time – think Pinterest formatting), there are a lot of shared features between the two. This includes, photo carousels, chronological and algorithmic feeds, comment controls, and more.
There is no announcement on when the app will be available in other countries.
You can download the app on your phone, here.
