It’s only early 2016 but the New Year has already spurred change for social media app Twitter. Amidst rumours that the communication platform will increase its current character limit, Twitter is road-testing a new feature to allow for greater consumer interaction with brands.
The feature will allow users to individually tweet brands’ messages to their followers and allow for instant feedback. Call to action buttons will be available, alongside customisable hashtags which - when clicked on - will generate a template message of what the individual brand would like consumers to tweet. This could include hashtags, images and video alongside text.
It’s a move to bolster the platform’s advertising capabilities, with a spokesperson telling Adnews, "It’s a powerful way for advertisers to extend their presence across Twitter”. The new feature aims to make consumer engagement even easier to integrate, assisting in the increased promotion of campaigns.
