Wella Professionals x Speed backstage report – Thursday May 16, 2024
Sydney based label, Speed, stunned guests at the biggest fashion event of the year at the Sydney Aquarium.
Entitled 'Electric Sun' the show was inspired by rebirth, utilising regenerated materials to symbolise the transformation of fashion.
The collection signifies an evolution in fashion and consciousness, reflecting humanity’s transcendence and adaptation in a world reborn from the ashes.
The look
Wella Professionals creative director, Renya Xydis curated show-stopping web-like, bejewelled and wet hair looks in dramatic sunset shades using Wella Professionals Colour, Care and Styling ranges.
The intricate hair creations were celestial, combining sunset hues, with handcrafted accessories.
"Inspired by the beauty of rebirth, we’ve curated intricate hair looks showcasing web-like, bejewelled and wet hair creations using Wella Professionals, to signify the solar evloution as represented in Alvi Chung’s collection," said Xydis.
Get the look – The Wet French Roll
Using both Wella Professionals EIMI Glam Mist and Extra Volume Mousse the hair was saturated to achieve the wet look, then parting to the side and slicking back the hair.
The ends of the hair are then rolled into a French roll and secured with French pins, before adding the bejewelled and coloured hair piece on the part and around the hairline to create the dramatic solar inspired hair-look.
Get the look – The Gel Swirl
Renya and her team expertly curated the gel swirl with intricate detailing, by first smoothing and flattening the hair using the Wella Professionals EIMI Extra Volume Mousse.
To achieve the futuristic, web-like style, Renya’s team used the EIMI Sculpt Force to saturate coloured hair and apply on top of the smoothed hair in a swirly motion, setting the look with a blast of a hairdryer.
Get the look – Bejewelled Wet Look
This bejewelled wet-look was achieved by using the Wella Professionals EIMI Extra Volume Mousse to slick down the hair, keeping a centre part.
The bejewelled pieces are then applied to the sides and back of the hair, and then using the EIMI Glam Mist before rolling into buns to set the hair.
