Morocconoil and Laura Mercier were the official hair and makeup partners for Aje Resort '17/18. The collection was shown last night at The Art Gallery of New South Wales ahead of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Here's a roundup of the hair and makeup looks.
Who: Aje
When: 8:00pm, May 1, The Art Gallery of New South Wales
Hair: Michele McQuillan for Moroccanoil
Hair look:
"The inspiration behind the look for Aje is an effortlessly, cool girl. Depicting a natural feel with an element of rawness but pushing the natural textures of each girls hair - making it curlier/wavier, which enhances the already existing natural wave. We've prepped the hair with Moroccanoil Original Treatment Oil and then proceeded with a texture spray to create hold. We then section the hair in two and braid from the roots to the mid lengths, leaving the ends out. The texture spray is applied again to give a dry gritty finish for an effortless undone style. The two braids are then clamped with a straightening iron and once cooled, the braids are taken out leaving hair that appears natural with movement and bounce. We've then used tongs to create a subtle bend throughout the hair, wrapping smaller sections in alternating sections. The look is finished with Morocconoil Moulding Cream which is applied to separate pieces of the hair for a lived in look and then the Morocconoil Glimmer Shine spray to enhance natural colour and shine."
Makeup: Ania Milczarczyk for Laura Mercier
Makeup look:
"The makeup is really natural because the clothes feature a collaboration designed with an aboriginal artists from the Northern Territory. We haven't really used any colours that might clash or compete with the clothes. There are nude browns, nothing in the eyelashes and we've put a light base on. There's a bit of a rosy cheek and we've used a rose hip oil as the highlight, so rather than being shimmery its more of a wet look sheen. I feel that a really natural, beautiful, youthful skin is a really Laura Mercier look. It also sits well with the typical Aje girl. We prepped the skin with the rose hip range of skincare, we've used a really light base - most of the girls have a light tinted moisturiser on with a primer underneath. And then we've been using a cream blush and I've just been blending that in with a sponge - that was really important tonight - so that it looks like the colour is coming from within. More like a flush than a powder sitting on top of the skin. We've been blending that cream in, and with the wet look highlight, it looks like real skin. We've also used clear gel for the brows and we've given the lashes a little bit of a curl."
