Who: THOMAS PUTTICK
When: 12:00pm, May 15, Carriageworks
Hair: Shane Henning for KMS
Hair look:
“The models are real women and that’s where we got our inspiration from. The show is about empowering women and raising awareness and funds for The White Ribbon Foundation. For the hair we worked with each individual model, we didn’t want the look to be over powering, we just added a little bit of texture and a little bit of movement. On most of the models we’ve pulled the hair back but some have shaved heads, some have mid-length or short hair, and here we’ve worked with each individual look. We used the KMS Therma Shape Hot Flex Spray because it gives a little bit of texture to the hair so when you’re using heat styling products, it protects the hair while giving it support and hold. A milder version of this is the KMS Therma Shape 2-in-1 Spray on dry hair and to finish we’ve used KMS Hair Stay Working Hairspray which allows us to still play with the hair once it’s been sprayed - it doesn’t set the hair like concrete.”
Makeup: Panda Peng for Shu Uemura
Makeup look:
“When Thomas showed me the moodboard and inspiration he had for the collection it fitted perfectly with the Shu Uemura brand. It’s all about enhancing, not concealing and highlighting individual beauty. Also because Thomas is using muses rather than models, another challenge was to make sure that the women feel comfortable in the makeup. Unlike other brands, and going against the trend of glowing skin, Thomas wanted a matte finish so we chose the Shu Uemura Petal Skin Fluid Foundation. This product is semi-matte and gives a beautiful light reflection - like a petal would. Another look I suggested to Thomas was the bitten lip. You can’t see the lip line at all, it’s just a blot of red in the centre of the lips and for this we actually used eye shadow. Clarisonic prepped the skin so we only used basic skincare products such as the Shu Uemura Maxi Hydrability Moisture Essence In-Gel and Shu Uemura Skin Perfector Oil. As this left a dewy sheen, we mattified with the Shu Uemura Invisible Powder.”

Skin prep:
“We used the Clarisonic Mia Fit device with the radiant brush head that stops the skin looking dull and flat. It takes 60 seconds to create soft, hydrated skin - it also exfoliates which helps provide the perfect base. We used the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil today which emulsifies on the skin and gives a lovely milky finish. We then toned and finished with a moisturiser."
