Dior’s life chronicled through fragrance

A new exhibition in France is honouring the late Christian Dior by chronicling his early life and couture works through fragrance.

‘Christian Dior - Esprits De Parfums’ gives visitors the opportunity to discover the designer’s passion for the South of France and the influence of the region on his olfactory creations.

Dior is quoted as saying, “It’s hard to imagine how many thoughts and attentions require the search for a new perfume; the elaboration of a bottle, and even a simple packaging. These jobs are so demanding I feel like a perfume couturier.”

His role as a perfume innovator and ‘couturier’ has since led the house of Christian Dior Parfums to create hundreds of beloved perfumes since its inception in 1947.

The exhibition is held at the Musée International de la Parfumerie in Grasse and runs until October 1.
