Fragrance trends in Australia

The Fragrance Foundation has released a list of the most popular scents in the country. The results include perfumes across all fragrance notes, with the soft floral Chanel No.5 being the most popular.

According to Erica Moore, fragrance evaluator at Fragrances of the World, on behalf of The Fragrance Foundation Australia, the current and emerging trends are indicative of a few key factors. One is the ongoing development of new raw materials, especially with woody notes such as synthetic sandalwoods driving growth in the woods and woody oriental families, such as Euphoria [Calvin Klein] and Flora by Gucci.”

Moore says there is also growing popularity in the floral families, in particular, soliflores (fragrances composed around a single dominant floral note), which have a simple, uncluttered quality. These fragrances also tend to have a vintage, nostalgic feel about them (such as Chloé with it’s dominant Tuberose note), which is proving to be increasingly popular.”
