Reflecting the rising influence of fitspo stars, athlete Ronda Rousey has been welcomed to the Pantene Pro-V family as the latest face of the brand.
The UFC fighter admits even she was skeptical of the fit. She comments: “I’m fully aware that I might not be the first person people think of to collaborate with a beauty brand. I’ve been called ‘Miss Man’ and ‘savage’ because of my physique, but to me, strength isn’t only about having muscles. It’s about having heart and finding inner confidence, so I’m honoured that Pantene asked me to be part of their new global campaign that encourages women to break gender barriers, break the glass ceiling and never settle.”
Comments P&G vice president of North America Jodi Allen: “We’re proud to announce Ronda Rousey as the newest member of the Pantene family. Ronda is the future of strong women everywhere – women rising above society’s expectations and proving once and for all that strong is always beautiful.”
Rousey will front the TV, digital and print advertising for the hair care giant’s latest campaign. A play on its original ‘Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful’ campaign of the 1980s, the campaign has been updated for a modern setting (and a modern face) to ‘Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Strong’.
