That’s Life has just announced the appointment of new beauty editor Carly Bass. BD spoke with Carly to find out a little bit more about her new role…
Could you tell us a bit about your background and where you were working before?
I have been working at Pacific Mags for just over a year now. At first, I was Editorial coordinator at New Idea before taking on the same role across Who as well. This then allowed me to take a shot at writing across The List and Backchat sections of Who while dipping in to online writing at New Idea (lifestyle and beauty mostly). Now, adding Beauty Editor for that’s life! into the mix while resuming my roles across the other weekly titles.
Before Pacific Magazines, I worked part time at 360PR for a year. I started there as an intern while at uni and upon completion of the internship, began working there part-time as an Account Coordinator.
What will your role at that’s life! entail?
In my role as Beauty Editor of that’s life!, I will be responsible for informing our loyal readers with the latest beauty news and products. The readers are busy women, often mothers and multi-taskers! I want to offer them quick, affordable beauty options and help with information and techniques.
How can brands and PRs best work with you in the future?
It is my job to be on top of all the latest trends and products and I would love to cover a wide range of products and offer our readers the best in beauty. By ensuring I’m on all media lists, PR’s and brands can help in making sure I’m well informed therefore, our readers will be too.
What are you most looking forward to?
After studying journalism for 6 years, I am most looking forward to learning more about the industry I worked so hard to be a part of. Discovering more about the beauty industry and being able to write about it is my ideal job. I love it and I can’t wait.
