Congratulations to Stacey Hicks, the new editor and content director of Girlfriend magazine.
BD chatted with Stacey to find out a little bit more about her new role:
Can you tell us a bit about your career history?
I have a journalism background, starting out in community newspapers and working at the Sydney Morning Herald.
But for the last seven years I have been writing all things real-life for that’s life! before eventually becoming deputy editor for the title – so Girlfriend is a big change for me! But I feel like I already know the brand inside out and have dreamed of working for Girlfriend since I was 16 (my teenage self is still freaking out with excitement!)
What will your role as GF editor entail?
As well as producing our gorgeous quarterly print product, I am overseeing all our digital content. So my main responsibilities will be curating all our gorgeous beauty content and features, as well as giving our readers access to the influencers and celebrities they love across print, digital and social.
What are you most looking forward to?
Seeing my first issue hit the shelves for spring! I feel an enormous responsibility to get it right for Australia’s Gen Z girls who trust this brand implicitly and we’re always looking for ways to modernise the brand to keep on the forefront of what’s important to our readers. To I’m really loving getting stuck into that. Plus, writing about boys all day is pretty fun, too!
