After being bought out by German publishing giant Bauer Media Group in early September, ACP Magazines is set to be renamed Bauer Media.
Announced today by Matthew Stanton, CEO of ACP Magazines, the renaming is expected to be completed in early 2013.
"ACP is now 100 per cent owned by Bauer Media and this includes all our businesses in Australia – ACP Magazines, ACP Custom Media and ACP Books, and the Trader Group – ACP Media New Zealand, and also ACP Asia, our off-shore interests in Hong Kong and Thailand," says Stanton.
With the ACP brand in existence since the 1950s, it was first known as Australian Consolidated Press before being changed to ACP Magazines in 2000.
ACP Magazines director – media, public affairs and brand development Deborah Thomas told B&T that it would be business as usual for the company, with no changes made to the magazines other than stationary, mastheads and reskinned websites.
I don’t think it’s sad to see the ACP brand disappear,” says Thomas. Most people know us by our consumer brands such as Women’s Weekly, Cleo or Cosmo, not our trade brand. And the Bauer deal is such a positive move for us. The mood in the company very buoyant.”
