Founder and editor of esprit Magazine Australia, Andrea Ferrari, has announced she will be taking a step back from the business after 32 years.
Ferrari founded esprit in the UK in 1987 before bringing her business across the world and setting up esprit Magazine Australia in 2004. Last year saw The Intermedia Group CEO, Simon Grover, purchase a majority stake in esprit, and together with Ferrari and sales & marketing director, Nicci Herrera, created a new company – Percolate Media.
Today, esprit is a fully-fledged media brand with a quarterly print magazine, website, weekly newsletter, social channels and a successful events business. Going forward, Ferrari will continue to be employed by The Intermedia Group/Percolate Media as editor-at-large of esprit.
Of her decision to step back, Ferrari says, “Phew what a journey! How proud I am that the publication I founded all those years ago has not only stood the test of time but is also proven to be the robust business that has translated from the UK to the Australian retail beauty industry. Publishing is such an different world in 2019 than it was in 1987, which has enabled esprit to build and explore appealing new ways of engagement with our ever-growing audience. I know Nicci and Michelle will evolve the esprit business proudly embracing its firm foundations and creating alluring and relevant new connections and opportunities between brands and our influential audience.”
Michelle Ruzzene will be taking over Ferrari’s role as editor of esprit Magazine Australia. She was previously beauty editor of Professional Beauty and InStyle hair magazine. Nicci Herrera will remain at esprit as sales & marketing director.
Ferrari and Ruzzene will commence their new roles on December 1, 2019.
