With support from The Australian Women’s Weekly, health organisation Pink Hope has developed a new tool that assesses a woman's personal risk of developing breast cancer.
The tool can be found at pinkhope.org.au/know-your-risk and involves completing a questionnaire that helps to determine an individual's possibility of developing breast or ovarian cancer and details preventative measures to discuss with a doctor.
The project is supported by ambassadors Samantha Jade, Deborah Hutton, Sylvia Jeffreys, Erin Molan, Melissa Hoyer, Rachael Finch and Professor Kerryn Phelps. All were exclusively photographed by The Australian Women’s Weekly for a #KnowYourRisk social media campaign aimed to help drive the initiative. This shoot, along with interviews with BRCA mutation carriers (a gene fault, known to increase a lifetime risk of cancer), can be found on the pages of the September issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly, on sale today.
“It has been our mission to develop tools so that every Australian woman knows what her risks are and then take steps to manage her health. With the backing of The Australian Women’s Weekly, we will be able to reach more women than ever before,” says Founder of Pink Hope, Krystal Barter.
Sheree Mutton, AWW’s beauty and health director adds: “It has been a pleasure working with Pink Hope on this important initiative to encourage Australian women to be proactive about their health. It is so simple to find out your risk using this incredible online tool.”
