Hearst, one of the world's leading publishers of monthly magazines, announced that it has agreed to acquire Rodale. The latter owns a number of top health and wellbeing magazines including Men’s Health and Women’s Health which are currently published under license in Australia by Pacific Magazines.
Rodale is a family owned company that also publishes Prevention and has a successful book publishing division. While the terms of the agreement are currently undisclosed, it's expected to be finalised early next year when Rodale's 93 editions (in 64 different countries) officially become part of Hearst's portfolio.
In a statement Hearst Magazines president David Carey said Rodale’s chief executive Maria Rodale had, “grown her family’s business into a peerless authority that reaches an enormous audience.” He added that Hearst was, “pleased to add them and all of Rodale’s brands to our vibrant and varied global portfolio.”
