After seven years as the publication’s second-in-command, Pacific Magazines are thrilled to announce WHO’s Shane Sutton is making the jump from deputy editor to editor. Sutton replaces former editor Nicky Briger, who moved to marie claire in February to head up the magazine.
Sutton has had an illustrious career in the publishing industry, holding senior roles at magazines including New Idea, FAMOUS and Woman’s Day. It’s for this reason that Pacific Magazines group publisher of weekly titles Fiona Legdin believes Sutton is perfectly suited to the role.
“Shane has always impressed me with his ability to hone in on what is big and new in popular culture. Most importantly, Shane has the experience, ideas and passion to take WHO to the next level. He also has the vision needed to extend the brand’s footprint, particularly on social platforms, and continue its transition to a true multi-platform brand,” says Legdin.
Sutton is delighted by the announcement, stating: “I am extremely proud of WHO, what it stands for, the unique position it has in the media landscape and what our talented and hard-working team has achieved under Nicky’s editorship. I am really looking forward to leading the next phase of the title’s print and digital evolution.”
