Media startup, Missing Perspectives has joined forces with MECCA's M-POWER initiative to bring you Momentum – a dynamic new video and podcast series designed to engage young women in fresh conversations about sports, fitness, and health.
Aimed at Gen Z and millennial audiences, the series seeks to break traditional barriers in sports media by integrating discussions on athletics with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
Hosted by Kat Sasso, a leading sports creator and influencer, Momentum offers a platform where sports content is created by young women, for young women.
The series features insightful conversations with high-profile guests, including Angel City FC co-founder, Julie Uhrman, Olympic boxer, Tina Rahimi, Afghanistan women’s soccer captain, Fatima Yousufi, leading Formula 1 content creator, Amy Pejkovic, and Olympic skateboarder, Ruby Trew.
Despite the growing popularity of women’s sports, media coverage remains disproportionately low. According to Change Our Game, only 15% of sports news stories focus on women’s sports, while 81% centre on men’s sports.
This imbalance has left many young female audiences disengaged from mainstream sports media. Momentum aims to close this gap by offering content that reflects the multi-dimensional interests of young women, ensuring sports feel relevant, accessible, and exciting.
“This isn’t just about sports, it’s about making it part of young women’s everyday lives,” said Kat Sasso.
“Whether you’re passionate about fitness, fashion, or culture, Momentum is designed for you. We’re here to break down the traditional boundaries that separate sports from lifestyle.”
Beyond game highlights, Momentum will explore fitness trends, beauty in athletics, and the evolving role of women in the sports industry. By bridging the gap between sports and lifestyle content, the series challenges outdated perceptions of sports media and delivers content tailored to a new generation of fans.
Produced by Logie Award-winning producer, Lavender Baj, Momentum is backed by Missing Perspectives, which reaches over 2 million people monthly.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Kat and Lavender on this groundbreaking project,” said Missing Perspectives founder, Phoebe Saintilan-Stocks.
“Momentum is about amplifying young women’s voices and ensuring they are front and centre in the sports conversation.”
Momentum is now live and available for streaming here, and can be accessed across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and social media
