This year’s launch of New Zealand Fashion Week is set to thrill, with a creative hair show, Exhibit, taking centre-stage on opening night.
The show will allocate five minutes to each salon to showcase their vision and inspiration. Boutiques such as D&M Hair Design, Fabrik, Ryder and Ryder are in the event line-up.
Hairdressing veterans Andrea and Stephen Cockle were inspired to run the show after discovering there wasn't a forum for hairdressers to come together and explore their creativity in New Zealand.
“When we came home [from living in London], we found it really disheartening that the industry had become so fragmented,” says Andrea. “Only the salons with strong brand alignment were given the opportunities to present - while smaller salons carry so much unrecognised talent without the platform to prove themselves.”
Exhibit will be open at New Zealand Fashion Week on Monday, August 24. Industry and general admission tickets will be available.
