According to a media release from IBISWorld, Amazon's Australian launch will happen sooner than we might think, with the latter releasing an email to its third-party sellers asking them to be prepared by November 23 at 2pm. A rumour like this only fuels speculation that the e-commerce giant will begin trading on Black Friday or Cyber Monday to take full advantage of pre-Christmas spending.
The introduction of Amazon to Australia is set to change the online shopping industry entirely with an annual growth of 13.5 per cent predicted over the next five years, reports IBISWorld. It's anticipated that the launch will hit department stores and electronic goods retailers the hardest, but an increase in the uptake of online shopping is also expected, eventually.
"Amazon's arrival can also be seen as an opportunity for existing Australian retailers, with the online retailing giant expected to help drive innovation relating to digital transformation, logistics optimisation and multichannel platforms. Amazon will also provide some retailers with another platform to sell their goods," IBISWorld reports.
